Parish Organizations and Activities
Parish Council:
Advisory board comprised of elected and appointed members who meet bi-monthly to advise the pastor on issues relating to parish life.
St. Mary's Altar Society:
All female adult parishioners are automatically members of the Altar Society.
Meeting on second Monday of each month: Mass or Rosary: 7:00 p.m. Meeting: 7:30 p.m.
Activities include: providing sanctuary supplies – church and rectory cleaning – hosting Sunday coffee/rolls – hosting annual Jubilee dinner for diocesan religious women, providing meals for special occasions, etc.
Knights of Columbus:
Council #11737 membership is open to parish male members. Meetings are held on third Menday of each month. Some activities are: annual fireworks sale, providing scholarships for higher learning, assisting needy families in our community, adopting a seminarian and religious novice, co-sponsoring the parish annual social and all activities sponsored by the Knights nationally.
Annual Social:
The parish organizations sponsor and fund an annual fall social which includes a meal for parish attendees and activities for the children.
Fireworks Sale:
The annual project involves all members of parish organizations and provides income for them.
Pinochle Club:
Third Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in homes (September through May)
Lenten Soup Supper:
Fridays of Lent at 6:00 p.m. before Stations of the Cross.
Light Weigh:
Scripture-based program of weight control. Meets periodically in St. Mary’s Hall.
Food/Clothing for the Poor:
Appeals for items and donations are conducted several times during the year.
Schoenstatt Apostolate:
Members meet monthly for prayer and personal and family spiritual development at Cor Mariae, the motherhouse of the Schoenstatt Sisters near Crete.
Keeping Vigil at the Planned Parenthood Abortion Facility:
Volunteers needed to maintain a vigil at the abortion clinic on Friday mornings and 4 hours on Saturday during Lent.
Diocesan Charity & Stewardship Appeal (DDP):
Annual diocesan appeal held in late April and early May to generate funds to help parishes pay costs of Catholic education and other parish expenses.
Catholic Books and Videos:
A supply of Catholic books available for check-out is located in St. Mary’s Hall and a number of Catholic videos is available in the cabinet near the back stairs to the lower level of the church.
Natural Family Planning:
A natural fertility care teaching system that does not require the use of harsh chemicals, devices or surgical procedures.
Prayer Shawl Mission:
A group who have lovingly donated their time and talents by creating hand-knitted and chocheted shawls, filled with the power of prayer, for those in need.
