Catholic Books and Videos

A supply of Catholic books available for check-out is located in St. Mary’s Hall and a number of Catholic  videos is available in the cabinet near the back stairs to the lower level of the church.

Diocesan Charity & Stewardship Appeal (DDP)

Annual diocesan appeal held in late April and early May to generate funds to help parishes pay costs of Catholic education and other parish expenses.

Decorating Daughters

Responsible for weekly altar cloths and flowers and church decorations for solemnities, feasts and other liturgical parish events.

Food NET

A cooperative effort between the St. Mary’s Church, Denton United Methodist Church, and the Denton Community. Volunteers pick up food and other items from local merchants and distribute them at the Community Center every Monday to those in need.

Food/Clothing for the Poor:

Appeals for items and donations are conducted several times during the year.

Keeping Vigil at the Planned Parenthood Abortion Facility

Volunteers needed to maintain a vigil at the abortion clinic on Friday mornings and 4 hours on Saturday during Lent.

Lenten Soup Supper

Fridays of Lent at 6:00 p.m. before Stations of the Cross.

Natural Family Planning

A natural fertility care teaching system that does not require the use of harsh chemicals, devices or surgical procedures.

Pinochle Club

Third Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in homes (September through May).

Prayer Shawl Mission

A group lovingly donated their time and talents by creating hand-knit prayer shawls.

Schoenstatt Apostolate

Members meet monthly for prayer and personal and family spiritual development at Cor Mariae, the motherhouse of the Schoenstatt Sisters near Crete.

St. Mary's Altar Society

All women of the parish are automatically members of the Altar Society. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm following Mass or Rosary at 7:00 pm.

The Altar Society is responsible for providing some sanctuary supplies, church and rectory cleaning, hosting Sunday coffee/rolls, hosting annual Jubilee dinners for diocesan religious women, providing funeral dinners, meals for special occasions, etc.

As a member of the Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (LDCCW), there are several commissions within the Altar Society to serve better our parish, diocese, country, and world. 

Spirituality Commission – aims to create an educated and dynamic church community and encourages legislative advocacy among all members.

Service Commission – Supports and enhances the importance o family life within the church and society, works to address the needs o our community, and promotes responsibility for the world community.

Leadership Commission – Promotes organization development opportunities for leadership training, public relations resources, and publications.
